Meet Dr. Bajaj

Meet Dr. Anu Bajaj in Oklahoma City, OK

Dr. Bajaj is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. She was raised and educated in the United States and is licensed to practice surgery in three states, including Oklahoma.

After growing up in Oklahoma City, she moved to Houston to attend Rice University. While in medical school, she decided to pursue a career in plastic surgery after witnessing several extensive cancer resections. These surgeries, which removed cancer, often left patients disfigured. She became passionate about reconstructive surgery because she saw how the procedures could restore patients’ confidence and self-belief.

– Dr. Anu Bajaj & Team

Our Aesthetic Surgery Team

Bajaj Plastic Surgery has been synonymous with attentive reconstructive and aesthetic surgery in Oklahoma City for five decades. We are known for our specialization in breast and reconstructive surgery, including breast augmentation, breast lift, breast implant removal, breast reduction, and tummy tuck. We are also known for our warm and supportive staff, inclusive and comfortable office environment, and the lasting bonds we form with each patient we serve. Dr. Bajaj also has expertise in facial surgery, body sculpting, and minimally invasive procedures.

Caring for the Whole Person

Dr. Bajaj believes that to perform a successful surgery, you must care for a patient entirely. This means setting up a consultation where she gets to know her patient as a person—their life story, lifestyle, and reasons for seeking treatment. Dr. Bajaj’s total care approach nurtures lasting relationships between her and her patients.

Unlike other surgeons who choose not to perform reconstructive surgery after developing a cosmetic practice, Dr. Bajaj remains committed to breast reconstructive surgery after cancer and is one of the few surgeons in our area who perform the DIEP flap procedure for breast reconstruction. She also performs breast enhancement, breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift, and other plastic surgical procedures.

An Interview with Dr. Bajaj

Where did you grow up?

I was born in New Delhi, India, and moved to the U.S. when I was almost 4. Initially, we lived in NYC before moving to OKC. I remember sitting in the front seat of the car between my parents on our road trip to Oklahoma.

I graduated from Casady School in 1987. After high school, I attended Rice University, graduating in 1991 with a degree in English and history. At that time, I had aspirations of becoming a writer. I then went to medical school at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where I fell in love with plastic surgery during my rotation as a medical student. I completed my residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center and a fellowship in reconstructive microsurgery at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center.

I completed a fellowship in reconstructive microsurgery and began my career as one of the few plastic surgeons to perform DIEP flaps for breast reconstruction in the state of Oklahoma. Since then, my practice has evolved to encompass all aspects of aesthetic plastic surgery, including facial rejuvenation, aesthetic breast surgery, and body contouring—both after weight loss and more traditional mommy makeovers.

I believe that plastic surgery is something we do for ourselves, so that we can feel confident about who we are. I also believe that for surgery to be a successful and positive experience, we must work together—both the medical team and the patient. Many people may assume that surgery is just what happens in the operating room. In reality, surgery is a process involving pre-surgery preparation, the actual procedure, recovery, and ongoing maintenance. My goal is for my staff and me to guide you through this process so that you can continue to live the life you desire.

I became a plastic surgeon after completing a plastic surgery rotation as a medical student. I had decided to pursue a surgical career because I enjoyed the active nature of surgery, but I realized that most surgeons remove body parts—tumors, diseased organs, and so on. After observing the resection of a large mandibular squamous cell carcinoma, I was fascinated when the plastic surgeons entered the OR and reconstructed the patient’s mandible using his fibula from his leg. I was hooked. Plastic surgeons fill the hole rather than create it!

I love the variety and constant intellectual stimulation. Each surgery and each patient is different, and the challenge of developing a plan unique to each patient excites me.

Perseverance, passion, and humor.

I love being physically active—running in the morning or biking with my friends. My husband and I enjoy hiking and have traveled to South America, Colorado, and Mount Kilimanjaro for our adventures. Finally, I have always dreamed of becoming an artist or a writer, so I write for fun and paint every weekend. Many patients can see my artwork hanging on the walls of my office or on my Instagram feed.

Driven, passionate, direct.
