Breast Revision in Oklahoma City, OK
Bajaj Plastic Surgery
Many women love the results of their initial breast augmentation performed by other surgeons. Revision surgery is an option for patients who are dissatisfied with their implants’ shape, size, material, placement, or who experience complications such as capsular contracture or implant rupture. Even patients with no complaints about their first breast enhancement may wish to replace their implants after several years if their goals have changed.
Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Anureet Bajaj performs breast revision procedures using a similar approach to the initial augmentation surgery, with slight modifications depending on your specific reason for revision.

Breast Revision Surgery
Breast revision surgery is performed under general anesthesia and as an outpatient procedure, which means you will go home to recover following surgery. However, since you will have received anesthesia, you should make arrangements for someone to be with you during the first 24 hours after surgery.
Dr. Bajaj encourages you to bring all your questions and concerns so you can discuss them during your consultation visits. If your original implants were inserted using an inframammary incision, Dr. Bajaj will likely be able to remove the original implant and insert the new implant using the same incision. However, if your primary breast augmentation utilized a transaxillary incision, Dr. Bajaj will need to make a new incision to remove the old implant and insert the new one. If you have capsular contracture, Dr. Bajaj will need to remove the hardened capsule from the breast pocket before inserting the new implants. No breast revision procedure is the same, as there are many personal factors that you and Dr. Bajaj must consider prior to surgery.
Reasons to Have Breast Revision Surgery
Women choose to have breast revision surgery for many reasons. Some of the issues that breast revision surgery can correct include:
- Changing the size or material of the implant
- Implants have shifted in position
- Capsular contracture
- Implant rupture
- Implant rippling
- Breast asymmetry
Dr. Bajaj works closely with all her clients, listening to their wants and needs, to develop a personalized procedure plan tailored to your body and lifestyle.

To help prepare patients, a nutritional plan will be created both before and after their surgery, a proactive pain and nausea management schedule will be carefully implemented, as well as our own personal testimonials from undergoing breast procedures.
How long do breast revision results last?
The results of your breast revision surgery can last for years to come. For some patients, this can translate to 10-20 years of remarkable results. But after some time has passed, the natural effects of aging, gravity, or lifestyle choices can cause your breasts to sag or appear deflated. At that point, you can opt for additional procedures to improve the appearance of your breasts and retain a youthful look for them.
Is breast revision surgery painful?
Typically, breast revision surgery is performed under general anesthesia. Patients may experience post-surgery soreness around the breasts, but Dr. Bajaj and her team incorporate a rapid recovery protocol to help you minimize your pain and return to your life!
Additional Procedures
Breast Lift
While a breast revision will fix issues or concerns that you have with your current implant, it will not fix breasts that have started to sag due to gravity, aging, pregnancy, or weight fluctuation. If you have sagging or pendulous breasts, you may want to consider undergoing a breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, in addition to your breast revision. The two procedures can easily be combined and will restore youthful shape and elevation to your breasts.
Tummy Tuck
Often, breast procedures are performed at the same time as a body procedure for a beautiful transformation. Women who have recently given birth or lost a significant amount of weight may have excess skin on their abdomen that will not respond to exercise. A tummy tuck removes this excess skin, meanwhile tightening the abdominal muscles to give you a more toned and defined look. A breast revision performed in combination with a tummy tuck can completely rejuvenate a woman’s appearance.
Mommy Makeover
For women interested in a breast revision, breast lift, and a tummy tuck, Dr. Bajaj recommends the Mommy Makeover package. A Mommy Makeover is a combination of procedures designed to help mothers regain their pre-baby body. With this procedure, women can choose any combination from the following procedures: breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast revision, breast lift, tummy tuck, and/or liposuction. Liposuction is typically included to help women get rid of extra fat deposits that are not responding to diet and exercise.
How long does breast revision surgery take?
Depending on the extent of your surgery, breast revision surgery can take between 1 and 3 hours – the length of the surgery will vary based on complexity. During your pre-surgery consultations, Dr. Bajaj also provides you with a personalized estimate of how long your surgery should take.
Before & Afters

Can breast revision address sagging breasts?
Breast revision is performed to correct issues from a previous breast surgery. This includes addressing problems such as unsatisfactory implant size, implant rupture, capsular contracture, and changes that may occur to your breasts with time and gravity.
Can non-surgical treatments resolve the same issues as breast revision?
Breast revision surgery can address issues like implant size, shape, and placement, as well as implant rupture and capsular contracture. Unfortunately, there are no non-surgical options that can address these issues.
Can I breastfeed after breast revision?
In most cases, you can breastfeed after having a breast revision surgery if you were able to breastfeed prior to your surgery. However, you may find that you have to supplement because you may not be able to produce enough milk to exclusively breastfeed. During your consultation with Dr. Bajaj, she will address your concerns and questions regarding this sensitive topic.
How much time do I need off work after breast revision?
After your breast revision surgery, you can expect to take 3-5 days off work; most women are able to drive 3-5 days after surgery. However, as your body continues to recover, it is recommended that you do not perform physically strenuous activities or lift heavy weights for at least 3-4 weeks after your surgery. These numbers may vary based on the complexity of your procedure – Dr. Bajaj may have additional recommendations for you, which she will address at your consultation and follow-up visits.
Will I have drains after breast revision surgery?
Since breast revision surgery is more complex than the original breast augmentation, while everyone may require a drain, it is not uncommon to require drains after surgery. These drains may stay in place for 2-3 days and will drain the natural fluid that your body will produce. Dr. Bajaj and her nursing staff will discuss how to care for these drains with you during your pre-operative visit.
Do you need to make new incisions for breast revision?
Whether Dr. Bajaj needs to make new incisions for breast revision depends on the type of technique used during your previous breast augmentation surgery and what is required to achieve your goals with this secondary procedure. After a personalized consultation, Dr. Bajaj will discuss the proposed incisions and surgical plan with you in detail.
Breast Revision in Oklahoma FAQs
How is breast revision different from other breast enhancement surgeries?
Compared to breast augmentation and similar procedures, breast revision surgery is more complex and requires advanced skills and techniques. Dr. Bajaj must carefully maneuver around factors such as scar tissue and changes in skin quality and breast tissue resulting from a previous surgery. For this reason, revision surgery involves meticulous attention to detail and may require adjuncts such as GalaFLEX® for soft tissue support. In addition, rather than making the breasts appear larger or more elevated, as breast augmentation or a breast lift would, breast revision surgery aims to improve the outcomes of a previous operation.
What can I expect from breast revision recovery?
Each patient experiences a different degree of soreness, swelling, and discomfort immediately following their procedure. You will be given written instructions on how to manage pain, care for incisions, and avoid specific activities during the first few weeks. In addition, your breasts will be dressed with bandages to help reduce swelling and provide necessary support during the healing process.
Typically, rest—but not bed rest—is recommended for the first few days. Most patients feel well enough to return to their regular work schedule after about a week. Listen carefully to your body and avoid overexertion, especially during the first month.
After four weeks of recovery, most swelling will continue to resolve; however, it may take up to 3–6 months for your breasts to fully settle.
How much does it cost for a breast revision?
The cost of breast revision surgery will depend on many factors. Some of these include the new implant type, ancillary procedures, and postoperative care. At the time of the consultation, Dr. Bajaj and her staff will discuss the options for surgery and pricing with you. If you are interested in financing options, we do offer both CareCredit and Alphaeon. At the time of the consultation, you will have the opportunity to speak with a member of our staff dedicated to patient financing. Request a consultation today to get started!
Am I a good candidate for Breast Revision Surgery?
Good candidates for surgery should be in good health, at a stable weight, and nonsmokers. They should have realistic expectations for the outcome and understand what breast revision surgery can and cannot accomplish. These procedures are elective and are typically performed to address a desired change in breast appearance due to weight fluctuations, the aging process, or implant-related issues. The surgery and recovery are generally similar to those of an initial breast augmentation.
If you are interested in completely removing your implants, you can click here to read more about breast implant removal surgery. Women who wish to remove their implants but have very thin breast tissue due to implant size may need to have smaller implants inserted or undergo fat transfer breast augmentation. These procedures result in smaller breasts that are closer to a patient’s natural cup size while still appearing natural and beautiful. Dr. Bajaj can help women who are unhappy with the results of their primary breast augmentation achieve a look that makes them feel confident and happy. The best way to determine if you are a good candidate is to contact us and schedule a consultation.
How do I plan for Breast Revision Surgery?
At the time of the consultation, Dr. Bajaj will provide you with more detailed information about how to prepare for your surgery. Preparation for a breast revision procedure is similar to how women prepare for a breast augmentation. If the you smoke, then you will be required to quit at least three weeks prior to surgery as smoking can have seriously negative effects on the procedure and recovery. Also, you will need to stop taking anti-inflammatory medications, including ibuprofen, aspirin, and naproxen, two weeks prior to the surgery. Additionally, if Dr. Bajaj has made any alterations to medications or supplements that you take, you should follow these instructions. For anyone considering an elective surgical procedure, it is important to optimize your nutrition with a healthy diet high in protein and vitamins to ensure good wound healing and a smooth recovery.
What will my results be like?
Dr. Bajaj is committed to delivering flattering, natural-looking results that complement your figure and lifestyle. Breast surgery is about shape and proportion rather than size alone. Following surgery, your breasts should have an aesthetically pleasing shape and proportions that complement your body. Dr. Bajaj will carefully consider your desired outcome and make every effort to address your concerns while always keeping your safety top of mind.
Your Breast Reduction Consultation
