Breast Lift in Oklahoma City, OK
Bajaj Plastic Surgery
A breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, is a plastic surgery procedure that aims to reshape and reposition the breasts to a more youthful position on the chest. It is most commonly performed on women who are unhappy with drooping and sagging breasts caused by aging or breastfeeding.
A breast lift is well known for boosting the self-esteem and confidence of countless women. For many women, well-defined breasts are not just about cosmetics—they can help relieve discomfort and make finding bras and clothing that fit less of a struggle. A breast lift with Dr. Anureet Bajaj in Oklahoma City, OK, lifts and reshapes sagging breasts, reverses the effects of breastfeeding and pregnancy, and creates a more defined cleavage. It can also reshape and reposition the nipples. These are just a few of the benefits a breast lift can achieve, but the most important outcome is the positive change patients see and feel about themselves.
Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Anureet Bajaj understands how crucial the decision to undergo a cosmetic change can be. She believes that everybody is unique, which is why she customizes each procedure to meet her patients’ individual needs and goals.

What Is a Breast Lift?
A breast lift will lift and reshape your breasts. In other words, if your nipples point downward, a mastopexy removes excess skin and reshapes the breasts so the nipples are positioned at the point of maximal projection on the breast mound.
Do I Need an Implant with a Breast Lift?
Whether you need an implant in addition to your mastopexy depends on the look you desire. While a mastopexy reshapes the breast and restores the position of the nipple-areola complex, it does not raise where the breast sits on the chest wall or create a rounded appearance in the upper portion of the breasts. These goals can be achieved only by placing an implant in addition to the mastopexy. Women who do not want implants but still desire some fullness may be candidates for fat transfer, which can be performed at the same time as the mastopexy.
Can a Breast Lift and Breast Augmentation Be Performed at the Same Time?
Yes, both procedures can be performed at the same time.

The Ideal Breast Lift Candidate
Before moving forward, Dr. Bajaj will first ensure that the patient is a good candidate for the procedure. The following characteristics are used to define the ideal breast lift candidate:
- A desire to rejuvenate sagging breasts
- A desire to reshape pendulous breasts
- A desire to relocate the nipples higher on the breast mound
- Being at a healthy weight, having no major health concerns, and engaging in an active lifestyle
- Being a non-smoker or willing to quit smoking for at least six weeks before and after surgery
- Having had a mammogram within the past year if over the age of 40
For patients who want to enhance their breasts’ volume and projection, Dr. Bajaj may recommend a breast lift with implants instead.
What a Breast Lift Can Accomplish
Breast lift surgery is designed to reposition the breasts to a more youthful position on the chest by removing excess skin, reshaping the breast tissue, and relocating the nipple-areola complex so it is centered on the breast mound. The procedure can also resize areolas that have stretched over time due to aging and breastfeeding and reposition them to a more youthful location.
To achieve the desired results, Dr. Bajaj will create one or more incisions on the breasts, including:
- Around the areola (circumareolar)
- Around the areola and down the center of the breast (lollipop)
- Around the areola, down the center of the breast, and across the breast crease (anchor)
The length and position of the incisions will depend on the amount of reshaping needed, the amount of tissue that must be removed, and the elasticity of the skin. Dr. Bajaj will do everything she can to help minimize the appearance of scars by limiting tension on the incisions and providing detailed at-home care instructions. With proper care, scars should heal and fade over time. According to many women who have undergone a breast lift, the benefits outweigh the potential scarring.
It is a common misconception that a breast lift will reduce breast size; however, this is not necessarily true. In most cases, the breasts will remain the same size. If you would like to reduce breast size, your treatment can be combined with breast reduction surgery. If you would like to increase breast size, you can discuss the option of adding implants to your breast lift.
Another option is a breast lift with auto-augmentation. In this procedure, excess tissue along the side of the breast is used to help shape the breast and slightly increase volume. Good candidates for this procedure have excess skin and fat along the sides of the breasts—sometimes referred to as “side boob.”

Will I Lose Nipple Sensation?
Because the nipple is being repositioned during surgery, there is a possibility of temporary loss of nipple sensation. In most cases, sensation returns within 6–12 months. The risk of permanent loss of sensation is estimated at 3–5%.
What to Expect from Breast Lift Recovery
Recovery can vary for each patient, but breast lift recovery generally takes about two to three weeks. Most patients can return to work after three to five days of rest, provided their job does not involve heavy lifting or strenuous activity. Dr. Bajaj will closely monitor your recovery and be available to answer any questions while you are healing at home. Prescription medications will be provided at your preoperative visit, and some should be started two days before your surgery.
Dr. Bajaj uses a multi-pronged approach to manage post-operative pain. She injects the breast tissue with the fast-acting anesthetic Exparel prior to surgery. In addition to Exparel, patients receive anti-nausea, pain, and anti-inflammatory medications to help minimize swelling and discomfort. After surgery, the incision sites are covered with a dressing and a specialized surgical bra to reduce swelling and provide the necessary support as your breasts settle into their new position.
Strenuous activities should be avoided for the first few weeks after surgery. However, Dr. Bajaj encourages light walking to aid digestion and improve blood circulation. You will also receive detailed instructions for incision care, which are important for preventing infection and minimizing the risk of irregular scarring.
Breast Lift in Oklahoma City FAQs
How much is a breast lift?
The price of a breast lift (also known as a mastopexy) varies based on your individual needs. For example, do you also want an implant for fullness along the top of your breast, or do you need GalaFLEX for soft tissue support? Typically, the price ranges between $9,000 and $15,000.
What is a breast lift?
If your nipples point downward, a breast lift reshapes the breast so that the nipple-areola complex is positioned on the central part of the breast mound, at the point of maximal projection. Without the use of an implant, it does not change the position of the breast on the chest wall (the breast footprint).
How long does a breast lift last?
Unfortunately, we live on planet Earth and are always subject to the forces of gravity. It is important to remember that a breast lift will not stop the effects of gravity, but it can help slow them down. How long a lift lasts also depends on your individual tissues—does your skin have good elasticity? I tell patients that if they maintain their weight and a healthy lifestyle, the results should last for approximately ten years.
How is breast lift performed?
There are several different techniques for performing a breast lift. The simplest is a skin-only lift, in which only the excess skin is removed and the remaining skin envelope is used to reshape the breast. More complex types of mastopexies involve reshaping the breast parenchyma rather than relying solely on the skin to support the breast. This is my preferred technique, as it tends to be more long-lasting.
In this type of breast lift, the blood supply to the nipple-areola complex is preserved by leaving it attached to a pedicle of breast tissue. The breast tissue is reshaped, and the excess skin is removed. The incisions are either a lollipop pattern or an anchor pattern, depending on the amount of excess skin.
Can I combine a breast reduction and lift?
Yes, a breast reduction can be combined with a breast lift. The initial markings for both procedures are similar, but the goals differ. In a breast reduction, more breast tissue is removed to decrease the overall breast size, in addition to lifting and reshaping the breasts.
How long does it take for breast lift incisions to heal?
The actual healing process typically takes about a year. Initially, after surgery, the incisions will appear as fine red lines. They will be water-tight within 24–48 hours, allowing you to shower after that time. Over the next 6 weeks to 6 months, the incisions will go through an inflammatory phase, during which they may look red and feel firm. After this phase, as collagen continues to remodel, the scars will gradually soften and fade.
What can I expect after a breast lift?
Immediately after a breast lift, you can expect to be in your post-surgical bra with gauze dressings. Typically, you will be able to shower after your first office visit, which occurs 24–48 hours after surgery. If drains are placed, they will be removed once the output is less than 25 cc in 24 hours. Some discomfort, often described as a burning sensation, is normal and usually worst during the first three days. Bruising may also occur and can take up to two weeks to resolve.
How long should I sleep elevated after a breast lift?
Typically, we ask patients to sleep with their upper body elevated and to wear their surgical bra for the first two weeks after surgery.
Can I get pregnant after a breast lift?
Yes, you can get pregnant after a breast lift. However, after your pregnancy, your breast size and shape may change since the breast tissue does respond to these hormonal fluctuations.
Can I combine a breast lift and breast augmentation?
Yes, a breast lift can be combined with breast augmentation. When performed together, this procedure can provide fullness in the upper portion of the breast that is only achievable with an implant. In some cases, however, it may be best to stage the two procedures—for example, if your skin lacks elasticity or if you have an abnormal breast shape.
